MINE SITE
Mine Site is located about Mile Marker 31 on Old Route 66 approx. 6 miles North of Oatman, AZ. The Claims consist of 4 claims equaling 80 acres.Old Route 66 goes through the middle of the claims. Fire Agate can be found walking around the Mine Site, with little Digging. Or there are a couple holes on the claims that have and still give up Nice Fire Agate pieces.
If you enjoy walking around with your head down looking at the ground, when you see Chalcedony attached to Bed Rock have your Hand pick ready and dig around the Chalcedony and you may just find a nice Nodule are even a large plate just below the surface. That's when the fun starts, Clearing the are around the Fire Agate Take your chisel and hammer out and start looking for a crack or crevice around the piece. Don't start hammering on the Fire Agate as you will chip or break a piece off. Hammer around the piece and try and remove your find still attached to the Host Rock. The last hole that was opened up this winter has produced lots of Fire Agate Rough showing great color from Greens, Blues, Purples Oranges and Yellows. Also found in the hole have been real nice pieces of Druse Crystal Clusters, some of which Fire showing in the center, There has been large specimen pieces taken that are approx. 6ins X 8ins in size. and many the are 2 to 3 ins in size. The Majority of pieces when worked show all kinds of Fire. Some pieces can be found just walking around the Mine Site, Just remember that there is a fee to walk the claims and pick up pieces.
